NSET Frequently Asked Questions

Does it cost anything to run or walk with NSET? Nope. Just bring the release waiver filled out and signed to your first practice. Tax-deductible donations are encouraged, and fundraising events are optional.

How do I get on the NSET weekly workout emailing list? Once NSET receives your completed release waiver, you will start receiving the weekly workout schedule emails.

Do you still have practices if it’s dark outside in the fall, winter, and spring months? Yes, please come prepared with a headlamp and reflective gear so you are more visible at night.

What else do I need for practices? You need to carry a water bottle or water pack for distance workouts over five miles. This is especially important during the summer months. Aid stations will be provided for workouts over ten miles during the warmer months of the year. You will also probably want to bring an energy gel or bar for longer workouts. Staying hydrated and fueled up during workouts is a good habit that will help for longer races.

Are you required to race? No, going to a race event is up to you. However, setting a goal for a current NSET event will allow the coaches to focus your training towards that goal. Non-competitive walking or running participants of all levels are welcome.

What race distances does NSET train for? Mostly for road races in the 5 mile (8km) to 26.2 mile (42km) marathon range. See the current events listed in the weekly email.
